I live in Knoxville, TN, with my husband Charlie and our four children. I adore outings with my family, music and artwork that ignite dreams, choreography that inspires, cafes, spectacularly staged events, and of course…IYD Divas!
I like to communicate about pivotal teen topics by comparing the reader’s life to an on-stage Drama where each reader stars as the lead role, scripting her life with every choice she makes. It has been my goal to produce a book series that teen girls are falling in love with and are using to deal with their everyday drama.
I was born in the United States, but spent my adolescent years in Taiwan as a missionary kid and worked with Ray of Hope (one of Taiwan’s first crisis pregnancy centers, co-founded by her mother). I then returned to the U.S. to earn a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Carson-Newman College. That’s when I really began a career as a Singer/Songwriter and a Public Speaker on dating, relationships, and missions (U.S., South Africa, and Taiwan).
While working with Choices and Hope Resource Centers, I was able to study teen culture and observe teen life in the public school system on the topics of sex, dating and relationships.
Stemming from the storyline of the Its Your Drama book series , I developed the IYDtpartAy, Script It Right Nites, Diva Cafe Hours and The Diva Palooza . At these signature events I love to combine music, poetry, drama, prop-infused IYD dances and much more to entertain and empower the audience to make educated decisions about real-life teen issues.
My saying is “It’s your Drama. It’s your life. Better be sure you script it right.”
